Thai housing along the canal in Bangkok
Bangkok is a mixture of wealth/poverty, urban/rural, dirty/clean. So confusing how it can be so many things all thrown together. There will be a mansion and near it a shack, cleanliness near a pile of garbage. Along the road from our gated community to the school are goats, chickens, cows, soi (street dogs), shacks, garbage, street vendors, food carts and then you enter this huge beautiful school campus. I'm thinking there are not city council meetings with zoning restrictions! Within this large city is chaos mixed with serenity. One must see it to believe it. The Thai people are so patient, smiley, giggly, eager to please, calm, kind and hardworking. Thailand is known as the "Land of Smiles." Thailand was given this name many years ago by travelers.
